REV is among twelve California organizations recently recognized with the 2015 Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GEELA), the state’s highest environmental honor. REV received the honor at an evening ceremony on January 19th, 2016 in the California Environmental Protection Agency headquarters in Sacramento.

Established in 1993, GEELA is awarded to individuals, organizations, and businesses that have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made notable, voluntary contributions in conserving California’s precious resources, protecting and enhancing our environment, building public-private partnerships and strengthening the State’s economy.

“The entire REV team is honored to receive the 2015 GEELA award,” said Elliot Hoffman, CEO and Founder of REV. “It is a testament to the businesses, organizations and communities in California that recognize the great challenges and opportunities facing us all in this era of transformations. It is vital that we all provide leadership for our nation and world in designing and implementing sustainability and climate solutions that result in action that truly makes a positive difference for our future, our children and all life.”

The finalists were chosen by a panel of judges that included the Governor’s Office and the secretaries of the California Environmental Protection Agency; the Natural Resources Agency; the Department of Food and Agriculture; the State Transportation Agency; the Business, Consumer Services, and Housing Agency; the Labor and Workforce Development Agency; and the Health and Human Services Agency.

“This year’s GEELA recipients made extraordinary gains in sustainability, waste reduction and conservation,” said Secretary for Environmental Protection Matthew Rodriquez. “The winners also demonstrated their environmental achievements resulted in greater efficiency and economic benefits that spread beyond their organizations.”
