Scott Bowman, PE, LEED AP, has been named a 2014 LEED Fellow by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). This year’s 48 Fellows are recognized for their exceptional contributions to the green building community as well as for their significant achievements among LEED Professionals.

Bowman heads his own sustainability consultancy, Integrated Design + Energy Advisors, LLC in Iowa and is also a Sustainability Circle™ coach with True Market Solutions. He recently retired as a principal and corporate sustainability leader after 25 years with KJWW Engineering Consultants, where he was instrumental in 100-plus LEED projects and the company’s rise to be among ENR’s 100 Greenest Design Firms. Bowman continues to advise KJWW on sustainability issues.

“The 2014 LEED Fellows are utilizing their extensive knowledge and experience in green building to engage their colleagues, clients and communities to create a better built environment throughout the world,” said Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO and founding chair, USGBC. “We recognize Scott Bowman’s commitment to LEED and celebrate his individual achievements.”

LEED Fellows are nominated by their peers, undergo an extensive portfolio review, must have at least 10 years of experience in the green building industry and hold a LEED AP with specialty credential, among other requirements. The evaluation process is carried out by the LEED Fellow Evaluation Committee and supported by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

“I am incredibly honored to have been named a LEED Fellow; knowing so many current Fellows gives me something to live up to!,” said Bowman. “As I continue to advocate for sustainability in the built environment, I am also hoping to expand my voice and work to change user behaviors as well.”

Bowman along with other 2014 LEED Fellows will be recognized in New Orleans at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo from Oct. 22-24, 2014.
